Jesus the Christ

These are just a few of my favorite quotes and pictures of Jesus Christ.

"Any criticism that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints does not hold the contemporary Christian view of God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost is not a comment about our commitment to Christ but rather a recognition (accurate, I might add) that our view of the Godhead breaks with post New Testament Christian history and returns to the doctrine taught by Jesus Himself." ~Jeffrey R. Holland~

"What shall we do with Jesus who is called Christ? Learn of him. Search the scriptures for they are they which testify of him. Ponder the miracle of his life and mission. Try a little more diligently to follow his example and observe his teachings." ~Gordon B. Hinckley~

"We long to be close to the Lord, for we know that He loves each of us and desires to encircle us 'eternally in the arms of his love' (2 Nephi 1:15). His touch can heal ailments spiritual, emotional, or physical. He is our Advocate, Exemplar, Good Shepherd, and Redeemer. Where else would we look, where else would we reach, where else would we come but to Jesus Christ, 'the author and finisher of our faith?' (Hebrews 12:2). "He pronounced: 'Yea, verily . . . , if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive' (3 Nephi 9:14). His promise invites us not only to reach towards Him but also to take the all-important next step: to come unto Him."
~Anne C. Pingree~

"I testify that Jesus Christ is the literal, living Son of our literal, living God." ~Jeffrey R. Holland~

"I love the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it defines the way we can partake of the fruits of the gospel, experience the “exceedingly great joy” (1 Nephi 8:12) that only it can bring, and endure to the end through all of the challenges of mortal life."
~L. Tom Perry~

"And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." 2 Nephi 25:26

As one of His Apostles, authorized to bear witness of Him, I solemnly testify that I know that the Savior lives, that He is a resurrected, glorified personage of perfect love. I witness that He gave His life that we might live with Him eternally. He is our hope, our Mediator, our Redeemer." ~Richard G. Scott~

"We are called upon to endure suffering, sometimes inflicted upon us intentionally or negligently, we are put in a unique position—if we choose, we may be allowed to have new awareness of the suffering of the Son of God. While Alma tells us that Christ suffered all that any of us will ever have to suffer that He might know how to succor us,the reverse may also be true: that our suffering may allow us insight into the depth and magnitude of His atoning sacrifice." ~Keith R. Edwards~

"I bear witness of the Lord Jesus Christ. He lives. He is our Redeemer and is our Savior. He presides over this Church. He is no stranger to His servants here, and as we move into the future with quiet confidence, His spirit will be with us."
~Boyd K. Packer~

"I marvel at His matchless power to heal. I testify of Jesus Christ as the Master Healer."

"Jesus suffered deeply because He loves us deeply! He wants us to repent and be converted so that He can fully heal us. 'When sore trials come upon us' it's time to deepen our faith in God, to work hard, and to serve others. Then He will heal our broken hearts. He will bestow upon us personal peace and comfort. Those great gifts will not be destroyed, even by death."
~Russell M. Nelson~

"I testify of God's love and the Savior's power to calm the storm. Always remember in that biblical story that He was out there on the water also. . . . Only one who has fought against those ominous waves is justified in telling us--as well as the sea--to 'be still' [Mark 4:39]. Only one who has taken the full brunt of such adversity could ever be justified in telling us in such times to 'be of good cheer' [John 16:33]." ~Jeffrey R. Holland~

"When we have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we must have trust in him. We must trust him enough that we are content to accept his will, knowing that he knows what is best for us. . . . When we try to develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ rather than merely cultivating faith as an abstract principle of power, we understand the meaning of the Savior'swords: 'If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me.'" ~Dallin H. Oaks~

"I express special gratitude to the Lord Jesus Christ. I am thankful for His loving-kindness and for His open invitation to come unto Him." ~Russell M. Nelson~

"[Jesus Christ] is a teacher of truth--but He is more than a teacher. He is the Exemplar of the perfect life--but He is more than an exemplar. He is the Great Physician--but He is more than a physician. He is the literal Savior of the world. . . . I testify to you that He lives and that through Him, we too shall live."
~Thomas S. Monson~

“This is the Lord's promise to me and to you, 'Peace I give unto you,' the Lord promises, 'not as the world giveth, give I unto you' (John 14:27). Peace. Strength. It is what we long for and what is possible. We only need to turn toward His reaching arms." ~Kathleen H. Hughes~

"Our Father in Heaven wants each of us to enjoy peace and happiness in mortal life. Our Master, Jesus Christ, and His prophets have taught how to have that peace and happiness, even in a world that is ever more challenging, with increasing conflict and an intense concentration of alluring temptations."
~Richard G. Scott~

"It has been fully established beyond all controversy . . . that the object of Christ's mission to the earth was to offer himself as a sacrifice to redeem mankind from eternal death, and that it was perfectly in accordance with the will of the Father that such a sacrifice should be made. He acted strictly in obedience to his Father's will in all things from the beginning, and drank of the bitter cup given him. Herein is brought to light, glory, honour, immortality, and eternal life, with that charity which is greater than faith or hope, for the Lamb of God has thereby performed that for man which [man] could not accomplish for himself." ~Wilford Woodruff~

"The Lord has mandated that this people get all the education they can. He has been very clear about this. . . . "
~Gordon B. Hinckley~

"On one occasion the ruler of the synagogue came to Jesus pleading for help for his dying daughter. While he yet spoke to the Master, those of the ruler's house came and said: 'Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?' " 'As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe' (Mark 5:35-36). "I commend those tremendous words to you. Be not afraid, only believe." ~Gordon B. Hinckley~

"There are times when you are fearful, when the stress and busyness of life seem to overwhelm you, when you feel adrift from the Spirit. Perhaps you even feel as though you have been abandoned. When I encounter those feelings, the best antidote is my memory of the moments when Christ's peace has come to strengthen me. . . . I invite you to remember with me what it is to feel the Lord's love in your life and to feel encircled in His arms." ~Kathleen H. Hughes~

"We, [the Lord's] daughters, need to know that He loves us. We need to know that He sees the good in us. Feeling His love encourages us to press forward, reassures us that we are His, and confirms to us that He cherishes us even when we stumble and experience temporary setbacks. . . "Our Heavenly Father loved us before we came to this earth. I know that He loves us, sisters, as does His Son, Jesus Christ. That love will never change--it is constant. You can rely on it. ~Bonnie D. Parkin~

"He is our Lord, our Redeemer, the Messiah, the King of Zion, the Rock of Heaven. He ransomed us with His blood."
~Boyd K. Packer~

"If you want to be near Him, to feel His peace, you can do it best in His service. He is the one who said: 'Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.' 'Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.' 'For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.'” ~Henry B. Eyring~

"Our Redeemer gave His life as a vicarious sacrifice for all men, and in so doing became our Savior." ~Gordon B. Hinckley~

"Your life is carefully watched over, as was mine. The Lord knows both what He will need you to do and what you will need to know. He is kind and He is all-knowing. So you can with confidence expect that He has prepared opportunities for you to learn in preparation for the service you will give." ~Henry B. Eyring~

"I'm impressed with the spirit and energy of so many of our members. Hearts are being touched and lives are being blessed. The work is moving forward in dynamic ways. . . . "The Lord in His infinite wisdom has designed His Church to operate with a lay ministry. That means we have been charged to watch over one another and to serve one another. We are to love one another as our Father in Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ love us." ~M. Russell Ballard~

"The Divine Shepherd has a message of hope, strength, and deliverance for all. If there were no night, we would not appreciate the day, nor could we see the stars and the vastness of the heavens. We must partake of the bitter with the sweet. There is a divine purpose in the adversities we encounter every day. They prepare, they purge, they purify, and thus they bless." ~James E. Faust~

"Each of us will have our own Fridays--those days when the universe itself seems shattered and the shards of our world lie littered about us in pieces. We all will experience those broken times when it seems we can never be put together again. We will all have our Fridays. But I testify to you in the name of the One who conquered death--Sunday will come. In the darkness of our sorrow, Sunday will come. No matter our desperation, no matter our grief, Sunday will come. In this life or in the next, Sunday will come. I testify to you that the Resurrection is not a fable. We have the personal testimonies of those who saw Him. Thousands in the Old and New Worlds witnessed the risen Savior. They felt the wounds in His hands, feet, and side. They shed tears of unrestrained joy as they embraced Him." ~Joseph B. Wirthlin~
